Ali Larter (Marigold)

This Hollywood actress is going to debut in a Hindi film soon, and she’s been cast opposite Salman Khan in Marigold. Apparently, Salman and Larter shared very good vibes on the sets of the film.

Though Marigold has been in the making for some time now, it is one of the most looked-forward to films of this year.

Nigar Khan (Shaadi Ka Laddu)

Born in Iran, Nigar Khan made quite a career in Bollywood - including films and videos. In fact, she was hot property with filmmakers who wanted a daring actress. She’s acted in such films as Vicky Tejwani’s Shaadi Ka Laddu and Double Cross - Ek Dhokha.

Although she married Indian actor Sahil Khan, she was deported by the Mumbai Police who claimed that she had come here on a tourist visa and could not work on that basis.

Ilene Hamman (Rog)

When Mahesh Bhatt brought South African actress Ilene Hamman to India to act in his films, Ilene too faced a lot of visa problems.

In fact, when Nigar Khan went through a similar fate, Mahesh Bhatt was one of her most vociferous supporters. Bhatt even went on to add that the Foreign Citizen’s Registration Office of the Mumbai Police was rude and heavy handed towards his actress.

Mayte Garcia (Dus)

This Puerto Rico-born actress was the former spouse of singer Prince, and made her debut in Bollywood debut with a sizzling item number Deedar De in the hit Dus. The song was sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and composed by Vishal-Shekhar, and was a runaway hit.

Incidentally, the idea for shooting the number on Mayte came from LA-based choreographer Liz Imperio. Although we’d like to see more of her dance moves, Mayte’s future Bollywood plans are under wraps right now.

Rachel Shelly (Lagaan)

Although she had already done films such as Photographing Fairies with Ben Kingsley and Everybody Loves Sunshine with David Bowie before, it was with the Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan that Rachel endeared herself to the Indian audiences as the British girl who helps Bhuvan win a cricket match against Britishers, thereby escaping the dreaded tax imposed on farmers in colonized India.

Antonio Bernath (Kisna)

This British born actress was studying drama at Bristol's Old Vic Theatre School when she was asked to audition for Subhash Ghai’s Kisna. She opted out of drama school for the same, and landed the role.

Antonio sizzled in Kisna and was also seen in a lip-lock scene in the film with Vivek Oberoi.

Coral Beed (The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey)

She played a sweet British girl in the Aamir Khan starrer The Rising. Coral’s performance was appreciated in the film, but she did not stay on to make hay while the sun shone.

Last heard, the actress is doing films abroad such as Virgin Territory and The Golden Age. Coral started off as a television actress but probably used The Rising as her stepping stone into films.

Katrina Kaif (Boom, Namastey London)

Earlier known as Salman Khan’s girlfriend, Katrina Kaif has successfully established herself in Bollywood, and is today a much sought after actress.

She started off with a film opposite Salman, which did well and later went on to star opposite Akshay Kumar in Namastey London which also turned out to be a hit.

Anabelle Wallace (Dil Jo Bhi Kahey)

This British actress did a one off role in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Dil Jo Bhi Kahey. She was more of a television actress earlier, and had even made an appearance in Who Dares Wins.

The film was the debut launch vehicle of Romesh Sharma’s son Karan Sharma. The film didn’t do well at the BO, and Anabelle disappeared from the scene.

Manisha Koirala (1947: A Love Story)

By far one of the most successful foreign actresses, Nepalese actress Manisha is often mistaken for an Indian. Manisha has given many hits and is known as a powerhouse actress.

In fact, she has given some great performances in films like Bombay and Khamoshi. However, she is currently lying low. We wonder when Manisha will decide to make a hard-hitting comeback.
